NEW BALANCE
In Boston, Massachusetts, British inventor William J. Riley began making arch supports — insoles with built-in support — for those whose feet bore the brunt of long days on the job, including police officers, firefighters, postal workers, and people with foot conditions. Watching the chickens in his yard achieve perfect balance, he developed his first flexible arch support. Modeling the design after the chicken's three claws, he created a triangular structure that supported three crucial points to deliver comfort and balance — and from this invention, the company NEW BALANCE ARCH was born. The name New Balance itself comes from the idea of creating a new balance for unbalanced feet.
